Awkwardness is the feeling of unease. You may have heard of it as “day 2,” “the point of no return,” “storming,” or “liminal space.” It’s a signal of growth. It comes when you’re about to change or are undergoing change. Or maybe you’ve gone through a transformation and it’s not quite what you hoped for.
A big mistake I see companies make is declaring that they “are Agile now,” then continue working the same way they were before. Because they don’t have the support they need to get through the awkwardness of becoming Agile, they label the transformation a failure.
I collaborate with organizations on why they want to change, what they want to achieve, and coach them through awkward Agile towards their success. And, once they’ve achieved their transformation goals, I ensure they’re able to sustain a culture of trust, innovation, and continuous improvement.
